SARAH ANN BALL: William F., Edward, Bartholomew; William, Sr. Sarah Ann Ball, the last born of William F. Ball and wife Elizabeth Gray, was born in Baldwin County, Georgia, 8 December 1820.1 When Sarah Ann was five years old, about the biggest event to ever take place in Milledgeville happened. The Marquis De Lafayette of France visited Georgia on his way to Washington D.C., to lay the cornerstone of the monument on Bunker Hill, Commutating the Revolutionary War battle that was fought there. “Milledgeville received the General on the 27 March 1825 at noon. He was prepared lodgings at the Government House and as he approached the gate from his carriage to walk to the door, there stood a number of little girls elegantly dressed who, as the General passed, strewed flowers before him and said in unison, “Welcome Lafayette.” He seemed grateful for the attention of these children and spoke to them repeatedly with his usual benignity. Two of the little girls were Camilla Sanford and Sarah Ann Ball.”2 Very little is known of Sarah Ann Ball. She married John V. Price. Their children were Nell, Ada, S.J., Emma K., and Clara. Sarah Jane Ball Price died 6 October 1884. (This from an old letter found in the Lackey family Bible.)3
